These dryers use different processes like refrigeration, desiccant adsorption and membrane filtration to remove contaminants, particularly water from air. Single or multiple stages are used to dry the air from preventing tool corrosion and other problems associated with water.
In fact, plant compressed air is introduced at the bottom of the dryer and expanded to atmospheric pressure, which immediately drops its dew point by 40° to 50° F. the dew point totally depends on the temperature and humidity of the air coming into the compressor. Now, the air is heated to raise the drying capacity further before it passes up through the resin hopper. Compressed air dryer has no desiccant, no moving parts, no regeneration heater, no valves, no cooling coils as well. What it needs is minimal maintenance-just change air filters every six months to its longer life.
